A couple of the songs are cover versions – some obvious, others less so. I won’t spoil the surprise here.
1. Colour In The Blues 2. Fountain of Fools 3. Matonge Lullaby 4. Angel on the Balcony 5. Midnight Jailfest
| 6. The Course of a Nightingale 7. Rose Should Know 8. A Punk (In the Army of the Lord) 9. DAAU’s Catfish Blues |
Donkey Diesel‘s first record – a limited vinyl edition of 500 copies – is their complete set supporting DAAU from December 10, 2004 at Bourla in Antwerpen. The insert credits Han Stubbe and Simon Lenski for recording and mixing – and of course, Buni’s on violin. The last track is taken from the end the concert, when all of Donkey Diesel joined DAAU for their encore of “Catfish Blues”.

The CD contains "Shrunken Man" as performed by: The The, DAAU, John Parish and Foetus. This is really a "various artists" affair. The The asked three other artists to record a version of their song "Shrunken Man". This was (AFAIK) the first DAAU project to feature Adrian Lenski, who had just finished his seven year long study of composition. Simon supplies the vocals; the lyrics include a few lines which would later reappear in the song Freeze.

Simon Lenski plays cello on the tracks “Listen To This” and “Every Crooner”. Pascal Deweze, who also plays on the album, says here that “Buni of DAAU was supposed to show up with his brother Simon but in the end he never materialized. After all these years, finally the truth behind the missing violinparts”
Buni & Simon Lenski play on the tracks "Trash vs. YLT" and "Happy Hour at the Honkeytonk". To hear these, one has to rewind before the first track, the place of the ‘hidden album’ "In a Ghosttruck".
Buni & Simon Lenski play on the tracks "Stained Glass" and "Sarah".
Simon & Buni Lenski and Han Stubbe play on "The Nurses Home". Buni plays violin on "Major Oak". Roel Van Camp plays on "Just Walking Dully Along". Think Of One is the band of David Bové who played on the DAAU album "We Need New Animals".
Simon and Buni contribute strings to “Everybody’s Friend”.
Buni & Simon Lenski play on the title track (and at least one other ?)
This CD contains an otherwise unreleased DAAU song, "No Reality Testing". It is a (brilliant) demo version of “No Rule”. An Pierlé, Kamagurka and Gorki are among the other artists who contributed other tracks. The CD can be ordered from the Psychoasis website (which seems to no longer exist).
Roel Van Camp plays on "Circumstances". The track "For Blood Effects In The Mouth" contains a (hardly audible) sample loop taken from a rehearsal featuring Daan Stuyven, Rudy Trouvé, Aarich Jespers and Simon & Buni Lenski.
This album doesn’t have any DAAU members on it, but the band is mentioned in the "special thanks" list. DAAU possibly helped Zita Swoon a bit at the beginning of the project, when both bands shared the same rehearsal room. There is even one track on Zita Swoon’s EP "The Sound Hobbyist" entitled "I Need New Animals" !
DAAU play on the tracks "Tumbleweed" and "This Is For You".
Simon & Buni Lenski (along with Eva van Riet) play strings on the tracks "A Shiny Future no.2" and "Mandarine". As a cross-reference, Eva van Riet was part of the orchestra you can hear on Life Transmission’s “Old Lampshade”.
Simon Lenski plays cello on the track "Sister". Both Adrian and Simon are mentioned in the ‘thanks’ section of the booklet.
Roel Van Camp co-authored the track "Les cheveux de Francoise Hardy". Roel himself doesn’t appear on the CD.
Buni, Simon and Roel appear on the song “Blindfold”.
This rare CD single contains a version of "Suds & Soda" actually played by DAAU. The song was long a part of DAAU’s live repertoire until about 1999, it has been performed only of handful of times since then.
The track can also be found (in MP3 format) on the dEUS DVD “No More Videos”.
Buni plays violin on the song “The Girl With The Golden Teeth”. This is a really weird album. According to the Belpop archive’s Soul Sucker page, the single of that song sold a total of 11 copies when released in August 1996.
shut up & eat! records 003, 1996
Han Stubbe plays clarinet on the track “Iki”.
Carte Postale Records CAP16
Simon Lenski plays cello on the track “I Do”. Around the time of the album release, Simon and Buni also played live with Mintzkov Luna a couple of times.
Buni Lenski plays violin on the tracks “Guitar Jesus” and “Elephant Crossing”.
